Monks Sit on Dharna: Demands Karmapa’s Visit to Sikkim


Two day dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi began on Wednesday demanding the Union government to allow the 17th Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje to visit and bless Sikkim.

The dharna organized by Sangha MLA Sonam Lama, saw participation of monks from various monasteries of Sikkim along with Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) president PS Golay and MLA Kunga Nima Lepcha and members of others organizations. Sonam Lama, in a press release said that the Buddhist community in Sikkim understands the complexities involved in granting permanent stay to the Karmapa but asked the Central government to allow the Karmapa to visit Sikkim only for three days.
